Philosophy

The Neo-Renaissance Academy is firmly based in the revival of Renaissance Humanism, within a contemporary context.
 
In parallel with its courses in the Arts & Humanities the Academy will be offering a range of integrative training in applied philosophy, theology and education: from the Beaconlight Home Education System (BHES) through to post-graduate professional training, integrative athletics, martial arts, personalized education and development, coaching and neo-renaissance humanism


Dr. Mark Gerard Murphy

PhD, MA, BA, PGCE, MIPSA MIRPA (UK) Accred

Mark Gerard Murphy is a Lacanian Dialectical Psychotherapist, theologian and philosopher, currently a lecturer at St. Mary's University in Scotland. He specialises in ethics, philosophy, mystical theology, and spirituality in relation to psychoanalysis. His research often explores the intersection between psychoanalysis and Christian mysticism, particularly the works of John of the Cross and Jacques Lacan. He has published in academic journals and is the author of the book "The Direction of Desire: John of the Cross, Jacques Lacan, and the Contemporary Understanding of Spiritual Direction." In addition to his academic roles, he is also a spiritual director who utilises aspects of Lacanian analysis in his practice. Mark has extensive practical and personal development experience of Eastern esoteric practices, including traditional Chinese martial arts culture, His work is noted for its interdisciplinary approach, blending insights from theology, psychoanalysis, and spirituality. Mark is qualified in Psycho-Systems Analysis Psychotherapy and has MIRPA UK (Accred) registration at the International Renaissance Psychotherapy Association (UK). Dr Murphy is on the editorial board of the new Journals: Psycho-Systems Analysis: journal of the international psycho-systems analysis society; Renaissance: journal of the neo-renaissance academy; and Renaissance Psychotherapy journal of the international renaissance psychotherapy association. He is a registered depth psychologist and psychotherapist; serving as a Curatorium member of both the Neo-Renaissance Academy and the International Renaissance Psychotherapy Association. He further holds the position of Registrar for the International Association of Psychology & Counselling (IAPC)”

Dr. Wanyoung Kim

PhD, Msc, MA, BA, MIPSA MIRPA (UK) Accred

Wanyoung Kim is a Doctor of Philosophy who retrained as a Psychologist. She holds a Master of Science in Psychology from Capella University, and a PhD in Philosophy, Art, and Critical Thought from the European Graduate School. Wanyoung is a published author and translator in the topics of Philosophy of Mind, Psychoanalysis, Theology, and Psychology. She holds Graduate Membership with the British Psychological Society, and is a Training Analyst with the Center for Freudian Research and Analysis in London, as well as the Website Manager for the European Journal of Psychoanalysis. She is also a Lacanian Dialectical Psychotherapist, is qualified in Psycho-Systems Analysis Psychotherapy and has MIRPA UK (Accred) Registration at the International Renaissance Psychotherapy Association (UK). Wanyoung has worked as a seasoned UI/UX designer, applying concepts of behavioural, social, and cognitive psychology to design digital products, websites, and applications for diverse populations. She has an extensive theoretical and practical understanding of traditional Eastern culture, and its’ contemporary interface with the West. Dr Wanyoung Kim is on the editorial board of the new Journals: Psycho-Systems Analysis: journal of the international psycho-systems analysis society; Renaissance: journal of the neo-renaissance academy; and Renaissance Psychotherapy journal of the international renaissance psychotherapy association. Pauline A Richards

Pauline is co-founder of the Psycho-Systems Analysis modality of Jungian-based psychodynamic psychotherapy and depth psychology. With 45 years of clinical experience in the UK NHS and in private practice, she has been training psychotherapists since 1988. As an NHS manager, Pauline pioneered the introduction of Psycho-Systems Analysis into acute and chronic psychiatric Occupational Therapy service provision. With her husband, Steve, she introduced clinical respiratory psychophysiology, into UK Primary Health Care, publishing on this at the XIIth International Symposium on Respiratory Psychophysiology, at the Wellcome Centre, London, in September 1993. She is a published author on psychotherapy and a concept artist and screenwriter, having worked as a project manager and film producer in the movie industry, working on Jungian-based movie projects. She is a Fellow of The Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH) and Clinical Fellow of the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society (Clin.Fellow NPSA), Member of the International Society for the Advancement of Respiratory Psychophysiology (ISARP), Member of the International Society for Human Ethology (ISHE), and Co-Founder of Jungian Neuropsychoanalysis, and the International Society for Jungian Neuropsychoanalysis (ISJN). With her Husband Steve Richards, she was Co-Founder of the Neo-Renaissance Academy. She currently serves on the Curatorium of The Neo Renaissance Academy and the International Renaissance Psychotherapy Association

He has extensive experience with governing bodies in psychotherapy and has served on professional committees for psychotherapy& counselling, in the UK and in Europe. With his wife, Pauline, he introduced clinical respiratory psychophysiology, into UK Primary Health Care, publishing on this at the XIIth International Symposium on Respiratory Psychophysiology, at the Wellcome Centre, London, in September 1993. He is a published author on psychotherapy, and a creative novelist and screenwriter, having worked as a project manager and film producer in the movie industry, on Jungian-based movie projects; under a professional nom-de-plume. He has 53 years’ experience of traditional Chinese culture and esoteric practices. He’s a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Fellow of The Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH), Clinical Fellow of the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society (Clin.Fellow NPSA), Member of the International Society for the Advancement of Respiratory Psychophysiology (ISARP), Member of the International Society for Human Ethology (ISHE), and Co-Founder of Jungian Neuropsychoanalysis, and the International Society for Jungian Neuropsychoanalysis (ISJN).
